Meet the Team
The speech pathologists at our treatment centre work closely with internationally renowned
clinical researchers at the Australian Stuttering Research Centre.
Our speech pathologists will provide you with up to date
evidence based treatment services based on your individual goals and needs.

Anna Hearne
Anna has been specialising in the treatment of stuttering for over 20 years. In addition to providing treatment at our centre, Anna provides mentoring and postgraduate clinical training for speech pathologists in Australia and internationally. Anna has given Lidcombe Program and Camperdown Program workshops to speech pathologists in Europe, Australia, and New Zealand. Anna is originally from Germany, but has spent most of her life in Australia and New Zealand. She speaks English, German and French.

Cheryl Andrews
Cheryl is trained in the United States and has provided clinical services for children and adults in Australia and North America for more than 40 years. In addition to providing clinical services at our Centre, Cheryl provides mentoring to clinicians and professionals seeking support to treat clients. Cheryl delivers postgraduate clinical training for speech pathologists both domestically and internationally on syllable-timed-speech (Oakville) and Lidcombe Program.

Caitlin Richards (currently on leave)
Caitlin has experience assessing and treating complex communication needs. She works closely with families and relevant professionals to deliver individualised client care. Caitlin provides clinical services for children, teenagers, and adults, using evidence-based treatments, including the Lidcombe Program, the Westmead Program, the Camperdown Program, the Oakville Program, along with Demands and Capacities approaches.

Laura Crewdson
Laura has experience working with adults, adolescents, and children with complex communication needs. She has worked in the National Health Service in the United Kingdom. At our clinic, Laura provides clinical services for children, teenagers, and adults, using evidence-based treatments, including the Lidcombe Program, the Westmead Program, the Camperdown Program, the Oakville Program, along with Demands and Capacities approaches.

Máire Sheehan (currently on leave)
Máire has extensive experience in management of children with communication challenges. Máire is originally from Ireland and prior to settling in Australia, worked in London at schools and within the National Health Service. At our clinic, Máire works clinically with children, adolescents, and adults. Máire provides clinical services for children, teenagers, and adults, using evidence-based treatments, including the Lidcombe Program, the Westmead Program, the Camperdown Program, the Oakville Program, along with Demands and Capacities approaches.

Sarah Byles
Sarah works closely with clients and their families, as well with teachers and other professionals, to establish and implement individualised treatment plans. Sarah provides clinical services for children, teenagers, and adults, using evidence-based treatments, including the Lidcombe Program, the Westmead Program, the Camperdown Program, the Oakville Program, along with Demands and Capacities approaches.

Georgie Johnson
Georgie has over a decade of experience working with people who stutter, and their families. She completed her PhD on school-age stuttering management in 2024. She provides clinical services to children, adolescents and adults, using evidence-based treatments including the Lidcombe Program, the Westmead Program, the Oakville Program and the Camperdown Program. She is also the Director of the Stuttering Association for the Young Australia (SAY AU)—a non-for-profit organisation which connects young people who stutter.

Michelle Shepherd
Michelle is our Office Manager. She ensures the daily operations of the Australian Stuttering Research Centre run smoothly. She has a background in Health Science, over 15 years of experience in the higher education sector, and extensive experience in the medical industry. Michelle manages the daily running of the ASRC’s treatment clinic and provides support to ASRC staff for the planning of events and conferences, record keeping and finance. Michelle also manages the ASRC public relations and social media presence.
